AsiKeçi is an independent, autonomous, disobedient and rhizomatic solidarity of artists and non-artists got together in 2014, in order to experience collective creative processes. AsiKeçi moves with the aim of liberating art from the sterile and exclusive zones governed by artistic power centers and brings a debate of art competence to table. AsiKeçi does not engage in methods that create top down hierarchy amongst the creative actors, such as portfolio evaluation, jury selection and rigid curatorial processes. AsiKeçi invites interaction in actual and virtual public spaces, strives for organizing art activities in spaces which are excluded by cultural institutions that have strict boundaries between art production and the art viewers/participants.

We are open to dialogue and have collaborated to date with more than 50 artists and performers from Istanbul, Tokyo and Belgrade. We applied for and received EU funding only once before to cover the travel expenses of international guests and the printing of a catalogue for our last event. Otherwise, we finance our creative activities ourselves on a shoestring. Right now, there are nine of us who consider ourselves to be Rebel Goat. Three of us are educated as architects, two as industrial designers, one as a teacher and later as a photographer and one as an anthropologist; a ceramic artist and a communications and media specialist both have a graduate degrees in art history. Most of us do not have 9 to 5 regular jobs. We were born between 1964 and 1986.
